In April 2024, Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 was amended by Regulation (EU) 2024/1183 of the European Parliament and of the Council. 

Furthermore, Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/2162 established the rules concerning the accreditation of Conformity Assessment Bodies and the performance of assessments of Trust Service Providers. 

Regulatory Updates under eIDAS 2

In accordance with Article 9 of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/2162, ACCREDIA Technical Circular DC 45/2025, and the procedures of our Certification Body, the following transitional provisions apply: 

  • From 17 May 2027 onwards, all Certification and Recertification audits shall be conducted in accordance with the requirements of the new version of the Regulation. 
  • By 17 May 2027, all certified Trust Service Providers must have completed the transition to the updated regulatory framework. 
  • From 17 May 2027 onwards, certificates issued under the previous version of the Regulation may no longer be maintained as valid, in accordance with Article 9 of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/2162 and the requirements of the Accreditation Body. 

Important Notice for Q-CERT Certificate Holders

Holders of Q-CERT certificates with an expiry date (End of Certification Period) later than 17 May 2027 are hereby informed that, within the framework of the mandatory regulatory transition, the expiry date of such certificates shall be considered as 17 May 2027. The holders of the relevant certificates will receive updated certificates with a revised expiry date. 

Transition Process to the new version of Regulation (EU) 2024/1183 

Based on the required changes, the transition may be carried out as follows: 

Α) During the Recertification Audit: 

Additional audit time will be allocated in order to cover the assessment of the requirements of the new version and the related system amendments. 

Β) Within the certification cycle: 

  1. During a scheduled surveillance audit 
    Additional audit time will be allocated, depending on the complexity of the activities and the size of the organisation. 
  1. Through a separate special audit 
    Additional audit time will be allocated, depending on the complexity of the activities and the size of the organisation.
