The Foundation FSSC, based in the Netherlands, is the global non-profit and independent owner of the Food Safety Management System FSSC 22000. Its goal is to provide confidence and impact the food sector.

FSSC 22000 is a GFSI Certified Scheme aligned with the ISO management system and the approach of the harmonized scheme. This approach allows organizations across the entire food sector to achieve their business goals, either by upgrading their existing ISO 22000 certification or by implementing FSSC 22000 from scratch in areas such as:

  • Pre-processing of plant products.
  • Processing of food, ingredients, and pet food, including primary animal conversion.
  • Food and animal feed processing.
  • Catering/food service.
  • Trade, retail, and e-commerce.
  • Transportation and storage services.
  • Production of packaging materials.
  • Chemicals and biochemicals (production of auxiliary chemicals for food and feed processing).
