The European Guideline on Good Agricultural and Collection Practice (EU GACP) for Starting Materials of Herbal Origin has just been updated for the first time since 2006, with Revision 1 released on 12 August 2025. This major revision broadens the scope to cover diverse cultivation systems – including indoor growing – strengthens alignment with GMP through a formalized quality management system and introduces new requirements for a number of topics.
Our Q-GACP Standard for Medical Cannabis, originally based on the 2006 EU GACP, had already anticipated many of these enhancements. Core principles such as robust quality assurance, comprehensive personnel training, detailed documentation, and rigid facility and equipment requirements have always been integral to our framework.
Any changes arising from the EU GACP 2025 Revision 1 review will be promptly integrated into the next version of our accredited Q-GACP standard. All certified clients will receive advance notification through our Technical Newsletter, allowing sufficient time for transition and ensuring ongoing guidance and support.
By maintaining full alignment with the updated EU GACP, we empower our certified producers to demonstrate regulatory compliance, strengthen market credibility, and remain competitive in the rapidly evolving medical cannabis sector. This update reaffirms our commitment to excellence and prepares our clients to tackle future industry challenges with confidence.
