A GFSI Benchmarked standard, sets out the requirements for the manufacture, processing and packing of:
- processed foods, both own brand and customer-branded
- raw materials or ingredients for use by food related companies
- primary products, such as fruit and vegetables and from animal origin
- pet foods for domestic animals and animal feed
Its intention is to help any food business reach a full understanding of the products it produces, manufactures and distributes, and have systems in place to identify and control the hazards that are significant for product safety, authenticity, legality and quality.

BRCGS PACKAGING MATERIALS (Accredited)
A GFSI Benchmarked standard, can be used by food packaging producers as well as producers of packaging for all applications, across the supply chain. In this sense, it can be applied by companies that:
– Produce packaging materials for conversion or printing,
– Supply packaging materials from stock where additional product processing or repacking occurs,
– Manufacture and supply of other unconverted or semi-converted and used or incorporated.

BRCGS STORAGE & DISTRIBUTION (Accredited)
A GFSI Benchmarked standard, is specifically designed for logistics operations dealing with Food, Packaging, and Consumer Products. It covers all activities which may affect the safety, legality, quality and integrity of the products stored and distributed, and of any additional contracted services that may be offered by storage and distribution companies.
The Standard may be applied:
– Where the company requesting certification has legal title to the products and where legal title is held by a third party. These products may be branded, private label or unbranded.
– For the full scope, or a scope relevant to companies’ operation e.g., Storage only, Distribution Only, Transport Only.
– At any point in the distribution chain from primary production to retail.

BRCGS AGENTS & BROKERS (Accredited)
A GFSI Benchmarked standard sets out the requirements for companies in the food, packaging, and consumer products supply chain that:
– buy, sell or facilitate the trade of products,
– may provide additional services such as the purchase, importation, or distribution of the products,
– do not manufacture or process those products,
– do not directly sell to the consumer.

COSTCO (Non Accredited)
A Food Safety Standard that applies to companies that manufacture products sold to the Costco market. All locations/facilities that process, pack, warehouse, or distribute consumable products (e.g. food, beverages, supplements) or supply food-contact packaging materials to Costco are required to have an annual third-party food safety audit. Audits are implemented unannounced, apart from the Costco Small Supplier audit, individually or combined with other GFSI standards.

GLUTEN FREE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (GFCP) & GLUTEN FREE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (GFCP) plus AOECS
Gluten-Free Certification Program (GFCP) is built on a scientifically proven, risk-based management systems approach for effectively controlling gluten and gluten cross-contamination from incoming ingredients to the final product. It does not rely only on end-product testing and can easily be combined with a Food Safety audit.

PLANT BASED GLOBAL STANDARD
The Plant Based Certification Programme uses the management system approach and provides a framework for companies to assist them in the production of plant-based food. It specifies operational criteria required to be in place to ensure that plant-based products are free of animal origin material. It can be applied as a simple add-on to any GFSI benchmarked Food Standard for the manufacture, processing, and packing of:
– processed foods, both own-brand and customer branded
– ingredients for use by food service companies, catering companies, and food manufacturers
– pet foods (GFSI benchmarked schemes only)
– natural health products.
